The Problem

The original booking flow had a high drop-off rate at the confirmation step. Clients were also missing appointments at a high rate — the reminder emails were generic, easy to ignore, and didn't include the information clients actually needed (stylist name, service details, cancellation instructions).

UX Approach

I audited every touchpoint in the booking flow — from the service selector through to the post-booking reminder. The biggest wins came not from adding features but from rewriting the content: clearer labels, better confirmation language, and reminders that felt personal rather than automated.

Design Decisions

Booking confirmation rewrite

The confirmation screen was redesigned to immediately answer the three questions every client has: What did I book? When is it? Who is my stylist? The confirmation email mirrors the same structure, so clients have everything they need in one place.

Reminder content hierarchy

Reminder messages were reordered so the most critical info (date, time, stylist) appears in the first sentence — not buried after a greeting. A clear 'Need to cancel?' link reduced the effort of notifying the salon, which in turn reduced silent no-shows.

Service selector UX

Service cards were redesigned with duration and price visible at a glance. Categories use plain language ('Hair coloring', not 'Coloration services') so new clients don't need to ask what's included.

Mobile-first booking flow

The entire booking experience was rebuilt as a step-by-step mobile flow. Each step is a single decision: pick a service, pick a stylist, pick a time. No scrolling through one giant form.

Outcome

First-month bookings increased by 72%. No-show rate dropped. Clients and staff both noted that the confirmation emails were 'actually useful.' The salon owner reported spending less time answering 'What did I book?' calls.
