A real-time ride booking app for Detroit with a clean booking flow, onboarding, and role-based dashboards for drivers and riders.

Detroit has a gap in reliable local transportation options. The existing cab booking experience in the market was phone-first and required local knowledge. A mobile-first app needed to work for users unfamiliar with the city while also being fast enough for daily riders.
I designed separate flows for riders and drivers. The rider flow is optimized for speed — minimum taps from open to confirmed booking. The driver flow is optimized for clarity — current job status is always the primary element on screen, with no ambiguity about what action is required next.
Set pickup (auto-detected via GPS), set destination (autocomplete with recent places), confirm. Pricing is shown before confirmation. No account required for the first booking.
The driver screen has three clear states: Available (waiting for jobs), En route to pickup, and Ride in progress. Each state has a single primary action and a clear status message. Drivers know exactly what to do at all times.
First-time rider onboarding is three screens: how to set a pickup, how to track your driver, how to pay. Each screen has one illustration and one sentence. Users can skip at any point.
The app handles the common edge cases: GPS not available (manual address input fallback), no drivers in range (honest wait time estimate + notify me option), payment failure (clear retry path with no data loss).
A production-ready mobile app with live tracking, booking confirmation, and driver/rider dashboards. The booking flow was tested with first-time users who completed it without assistance.
